2015 Overseas Study Tour Scholarships
MEF Victoria made the following overseas study tour scholarship awards to engineers working within local government in Victoria during 2015.
The first study tour to New Zealand was awarded to three engineers to participate in a group tour of up to two weeks and to attend the “IFME World Congress on Municipal Engineering and IPWEA International Public Works Conference” in Rotorua from 7th to 11th June 2015. Each scholarship provided $4,500 to cover travel, accommodation and conference registration. Successful recipients of the scholarship together with their study tour reports were –

A further scholarship to attend the IFME/IPWEA conference in New Zealand was awarded to Justin Hinch, Warrnambool City Council. Justin was the recipient of a joint IPWEAvic/MEF Victoria scholarship.
USA and CANADA
The second tour to the United States of America and Canada was awarded to three engineers to travel in a group tour of up to three weeks and included attendance at the APWA Congress in Phoenix, Arizona from 30th August to 2nd September 2015. Each scholarship provided $10,000 to cover travel, accommodation and congress registration. Successful recipients of the scholarship together with their study tour reports were –

2016 Overseas Study Tour to USA and Canada
MEF Victoria awarded three scholarships in 2016 to participants to travel to USA and Canada to undertake a series of visits to municipalities to undertake research on their topic of study and to attend the American Public Works Association Congress (PWX) in Minneapolis, Minnesota from 28th to 31st August 2016.
The successful participants together with their study tour reports were –

2017 Overseas Study Tour to USA and Canada
The three public works officers from Victorian Councils selected to participate in the 2017 MEFV Overseas Study Tour have completed their study tour to the United States of America and Canada during which they attended the APWA International Public Works Congress & Exhibition (PWX) in Orlando, Florida from 27th to 30th August 2017. The study tour group traveled on an itinerary that took them to Portland, Chicago, Toronto, Orlando and Denver. Having completed the tour, each participant will now produce a report on their research which will be posted to this website. The participants are also to be available to speak at conferences and seminars to deliver their findings and recommendations.
